英國智囊團研究員亞當·加裏（Adam Garrie）喺最近的一次採訪中，強調香港「一國兩制」模式的重要性，並認為暴徒破壞性行為正威脅著它。亞當希望廣大守法年輕市民能夠勇敢表達出反對暴力的觀點，遏制暴力蔓延，讓少數暴徒不再侮辱香港年輕人的名聲。

肆虐香港街頭的暴徒通過暴力行徑嚴重威脅「一國兩制」政策。而之前，「一國兩制」運行得非常成功。這種模式令香港得以保持其獨特的個性嘅同時，又成為咗世界第二大經濟體的一部分，坦白咁說，世界上任何一個地區都眼紅香港，希望自己可以參與其中。所以坦白話，香港嘅一小部分人想將自己與這種機遇分隔開來，顯得非常荒謬。

英國政府中有啲人，唔系普通百姓，而系政府同議會中嘅某些人，他們以某種方式認為英國喺香港問題上仍然可以發揮特殊作用。但其實，這嚴重違反中英簽署嘅法律條文，也與邏輯背道而馳。香港系中國的一部分，自1997年以來已回歸中國。香港系中國的一部分，就像懷特島係英國一部分咁。在英國，沒有人會希望中國對英格蘭南部沿海的懷特島（Isle of White）嘅政府政策指手畫腳。咁中國都係一樣情況，沒有人希望英國人黎教佢哋點做事。中國想要嘅系友好合作夥伴關係，希望雙方能夠相互尊重，從而帶來發展機遇。因此非常遺憾的是，因為某啲人依然持後殖民主義態度，完全沒有合作共贏嘅態度。

其實咁樣好唔啱噶，如果人們可以肆意破壞國旗並破壞國徽，你可以想像下嗰個地方已經亂成點。你想像下，有冇可能暴徒闖入美國國會並損毀美國國徽嘅樣？嗰種無法無天的現象系極度不啱嘅。所以我認為香港絕大多數後生仔，都系守法、愛國、聰明嘅。我們唔好畀少部分的暴徒敗壞絕大多數守法人嘅名聲。他們所需要做嘅好簡單，就系立場鮮明咁對暴力說：「我受夠（暴力）了。我們要努力改善香港，我們要改善國家，我為我們嘅城市感到驕傲，並為國家感到驕傲，我們不想參與這場暴力。」

Well， the rioters in the streets of Hong Kong have only made the 「One Country Two Systems」 model endangered through their actions. Because prior to that， it was functioning quite successfully. It was a model that allowed Hong Kong to maintain its unique characteristics while being part of the world's second largest economy， which frankly any region of the world would want to take part in.

It's， frankly， absurd that any part of a large economy would want to separate itself from that kind of opportunity. And there are some people in the UK government not ordinary people， but in the government and in the Parliament， who somehow think that Britain still has a special role to play in Hong Kong. This， however， runs contrary to the letter of the law and it runs contrary to logic. Hong Kong is a part of China and it's been returned to China since 1997. That's quite a few years. Hong Kong is part of China in the same way that the Isle of White is part of the United Kingdom. And no one in Britain would want China to tell the Isle of White off the coast of southern England of what should be going on there. And no one in China wants Britain to tell them what to do. They want partnership. People want mutual respect and people want mutual opportunity. So， I think it's very unfortunate that sort of post-colonial attitude among some people hasn't yet given a way to one of cooperation.

There's something very wrong. If people are destroying flags and destroying the seals of state. And one could only imagine what would happen. Let’s say， if a mob broke into the US Congress and defaced the seal of the United States. There's something very wrong with that kind of lawlessness， so I think that the law-abiding and patriotic and intelligent young people of Hong Kong which is the vast majority of the young people. Let's not let the rioters give the majority of people a bad name. They need to simply say :」enough is enough. We want to work to improve our city， we want to improve our country， we want to be proud of our city and proud of our country and we want no part in this violence.」
